Sarah Needleman, writing in the Wall Street Journal online site, wsj.com, has done a good post on finding low cost or free assistance if you’re just starting your business.
We as the American School didn’t get mentioned in the article, but we’ve since contacted Sarah and gotten ourselves into the chat room for wsj.com, which appears to be pretty literate.
Sarah’s central point is that one doesn’t need to enroll in a four year college to find all the help one needs in starting a business….there’s a lot of free stuff out there in webinars, courses, etc. In fact, 90% of those starting businesses don’t do it through schools….they just do it, (hopefully with some market research beforehand) and either find help or just blunder along.
Even local libraries are getting in on the action, at least in Brooklyn. We’ve done our courses before in libraries in Glendale, Phoenix and Scottsdale, but not on a regular basis….mostly when the local Chamber wants to attract new members.
