This is one of those ideas that seems intuitively obvious: an insurance company for freelancers.
It’s called “Freelancers Insurance Company” and was started in 2009, to provide health insurance to freelancers. Otherwise known as the 1099 crowd.
We don’t know much about it, other than it raised some v.c. money, is approaching $100 million in revenues and is profitable.
Thanks to Seth Stevenson in Slate for bringing it to our attention.
