One of the biggest problems startup entrepreneurs have is getting family and friends to respect your business.

Lisa Kanarek, writing for the SCORE Small Business Success Blog, get it largely right. The one point she misses is that you should bring your family into the idea and planning phases for your business, so that when you do start, they’re not surprised.

Another aspect Lisa didn’t bring out is that, whether you’re operating from the dining room table, the garage or a back bedroom, family members should respect your privacy.
