Homeless Havens

This post has been ruminating around for a while, and I might have blogged about it before.

The federal government has several thousand empty buildings, and they aren’t for some reason selling them.

So, why not put the homeless in them? After they’re deloused and treated for any other communicable diseases.

The feds should charge, or reduce aid to the states where it sets up homeless in their new homes. Such a charge might inspire to the states to take charge of the situation.

Some of the homeless might have usable skills, too, so they can be tested to find out. After all, we have something like 7 million unfilled jobs in this country, and we’ve got a modest talent pool in the homeless.

So, let’s hope that someone in Housing and Urban Development is reading this post, or is given it.
