Validating Your Idea: Out of One Business, Into Another

I recently had lunch with one of my former Solutions Forum clients, and found that he’d used our validation procedures in ASE course A02 to develop a action sports photography business to replace his small restaurant chain which has fallen on hard times because of the recession. But, what he did is classic: he combined two hobbies, photography and sports into a business he started about a year ago, taking team and individual action sports pictures in Tucson. He used our pricing and differentiation approaches in the course to create a differentiated system of doing the photography and publishing the pictures, and as a result, has achieved 40% market share in Tucson in a little over a year. He is now studying Phoenix using the same principles, to see what tweaks he has to make to achieve similar success in Phoenix. If Phoenix works, then he may try to scale the business into further Western markets.
This is a classic process of having an epiphany out of one’s subconscious, validating the idea and pursuing it.
You, too can do it!
